One powerful way to gain new graces from God in our lives, and grow closer to Jesus, is to honor and love the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Mary shares the graces given to her with us, those who desire to grow in holiness.
In Holy Scripture we read when Mary said, “Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord. May it be done to me according to your word.” Luke 1:38. These words highlight that Mary is willing to follow to the Divine Will of God. Mary was preserved from all sin from her conception and thus that is why she is called the Immaculate Conception.
Fr. Mateo, The Founder of the Enthronement, once shared that two powerful fruits from living out devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and honoring the Immaculate Heart of Mary, are the fruits of purity and love for the Holy Eucharist. Jesus is in the place of honor, but Mary can be the divine altar, ready to assist with graces to grow closer to her Son. May Mary lead us to Jesus, and may Jesus introduce us to her mother.
The Enthronement and the Blessed Mother’s Role
The Enthronement to the Sacred Heart is a great way to welcome the Kingdom of God into our lives and in our homes. Fr. Mateo shares that we use this term as a “theological expression of a doctrine of truth, which limits us to only use it for a Divine Person, the Son of God.” He went on to share:
“The Enthronement ought to be the same tribute of humble adoration given to the Heart of Jesus in the home as it is given to the Heart of Jesus in the Church. The Heart of Mary may not be placed on the same footing with the Heart of Jesus. The love for her in the Church is the greatest treasure after Jesus. But Mary is the way, and her arms lead us to Jesus.” Mary is proclaimed the sweet and loveable Queen alongside her Son, the King, Savior, Friend, and King of all hearts.
The Enthronement of the Sacred Heart asks the family or institution to render to the Divine King homage of adoration and be willing to offer up their lives out of reparation for sin. This can be done through praying the Morning Offering as we offer up our joys, works, and sorrows of the day. We unite our prayers with Mary and through Mary but always with the understanding that she shares them with Jesus the King resulting in Mary being the Queen Mother. Mary receives all the splendor of her royal prerogatives from the Heart of her Son.
We can honor Mary by reciting prayers such as the Hail Mary, the Holy Rosary, the Litany of the Immaculate Heart, or the “Hail Holy Queen.” As Catholics, we can Consecrate our hearts to Mary, and these prayers and spiritual acts of love are ways we can run to Mary as our protector and guide during our journey to heaven.
