The Devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus is central to Catholic spirituality, offering believers a profound connection to Christ’s love and mercy. At the core of this devotion lies the teachings and revelations received by St. Margaret Mary Alacoque 350 years ago, whose life and insights continue to inspire countless faithful worldwide. As we are in the Jubilee year for celebrating the 350th anniversary of St. Margaret’s revelations, let us rely more entirely on the Lord than ever before. Now is the time to give our heart to the Lord and ask Him to and transform us from the inside out.

The Life of St. Margaret Mary Alacoque:

St. Margaret Mary Alacoque, a French nun of the Visitation Order, lived during the 17th century. She experienced mystical encounters with Jesus Christ, during which He revealed His Sacred Heart to her. Through these revelations, St. Margaret Mary was called to spread devotion to the Sacred Heart, emphasizing its significance as a symbol of Christ’s love and compassion for humanity and a source of extraordinary grace. Jesus invited St. Margaret to be “The Disciple of the Sacred Heart.” Her words continue to touch hearts and help cast a new perspective on why it is essential to live an authentic faith that is rooted in His love.

The Heart of Jesus:

The Sacred Heart of Jesus represents the immense love of Christ for all humanity and each person individually. St. Margaret Mary conveyed this message through her devotion and writings, encouraging believers to embrace Christ’s love and mercy as manifested in His Sacred Heart. She emphasized the need for repentance for sin, reparation to His Sacred Heart on behalf of those who have sinned, and devotion to Jesus’ heart as a path to spiritual renewal and salvation. This devotion is also considered a Eucharistic Devotion, especially highlighting the importance of the Blessed Sacrament and the gift of Holy Communion, which is in union with the Sacred Heart.

At the time of her life, many Catholics felt “unworthy” and didn’t receive Communion and chose to withdraw from the love of God. When Jesus appeared, He shared these words to St. Margaret Mary, “Behold the Heart which has so loved men that it has spared nothing, even to exhausting and consuming Itself, in order to testify Its love… I promise you that My Heart shall expand Itself to shed in abundance the influence of Its Divine Love upon those who shall thus honor It, and cause It to be honored.”

St. Margaret Mary stressed the importance of reparation to the Sacred Heart, inviting believers to console Jesus for the sins and ingratitude of humanity. Through prayer, acts of reparation, and devotion to the Sacred Heart, believers express their love and gratitude to Christ while seeking forgiveness and reconciliation. Jesus wants to offer us this same transformation as he offered Catholics hundreds of years ago. Now is the time to respond to His Heart with love and compassion.

Here at www.welcomehisheart.com, we desire to share this love with others, and we are on a mission for each Catholic to learn to love and honor this Heart in their homes. The Kingdom of God is meant to be lived and shared with a spirit of great joy, trust, peace, and surrender to the will of God.

May you live out this life-changing devotion and allow Jesus to set your heart on fire with His love. When we take the time to live out the 12 Promises of the Sacred Heart, He not only blesses us but offers us spiritual protection. Consider the Enthronement of the Sacred Heart during this Lenten season. Bring Christ more fully into your life and allow Him to bless you as honor Him in your home. In conclusion let us pause and reflect on Psalm 102:13 “But you, LORD, are enthroned forever; your renown is for all generations.”
