Seton Parish – Sacred Heart Enthronement – June 12th, 2026
It was a beautiful day, just before the heat of summer started settling in, my morning started with Adoration, and much to my surprise when I came out at 6:30 am, there was a beautiful rainbow landing on the rooftop cross of our Adoration Chapel and Parish – God said he would leave a sign – we’ll we got ours, thank you Lord!
Over the past 6 months, myself and Thom Laughery PGK and Knight of Columbus, Faith & Vocations Chair, worked with our pastor, Fr. Leo Connolly, to Enthrone Seton Parish to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, and invite all households to do the same – in conjunction with the USCCB Bishop’s Consecration of the United States.
We were blessed with approximately 175 parishioners in attendance and through the sponsorship from the Knights of Columbus, provided about 110 blessed Home Enthronement kits and hundreds of Prayer Cards, which were from the Columbus based, Sacred Heart Enthronement Network, serving the USA and beyond to help bring individuals and families closer to the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
The Process:
We started the evening in prayer led by Fr. Leo. Tim Bowie, Board Member of the Sacred Heart Enthronement Network, then presented on the History of the devotion of the Sacred Heart, beginning with John the Apostle at the Last Supper, through St. Margaret Mary Alacoque’s visitations from Jesus in the late 1600’s through to Fr. Mateo C. Boevey promoting Home Enthronements in the early 1900’s throughout the world and the USA.
Fr. Leo then continued with reciting the 12 Promises from Jesus to St. Margaret Mary, for those that honor and promote this devotion, he then led the participants in the Consecration and Parish Enthronement to the Sacred Heart. Following this, he blessed the Home Enthronement Kits and other Sacred Heart family the special heirlooms that participants brought themselves also to be blessed with Holy Water. We ended with the Litany of Sacred Heart, Petitions and Prayers of Thanksgiving as the ceremony concluded, the new Blessed image of the Sacred Heart was hung and will be prominently displayed in the church for all to see and venerate. We ended the evening with praying the Holy Heart of Jesus prayer and attended the parish’s gathering to celebrate this special evening.
**Every parish celebrates the Enthronement of the Sacred Heart in a way that best fits its community. While many parishes choose to celebrate a Holy Mass as part of the Enthronement, others incorporate the devotion in different ways according to the pastor’s vision and the parish planning team. The celebration featured here reflects the approach chosen by this parish.
